Paris is one of the most expensive cities to visit for travelers in Europe, and it's as expensive as Amsterdam.
It's not a secret, but how much does a trip actually cost?
I have listed the cost of accommodations, transport, museums, tours, and food and drink, so that you can compare and pick a most suitable option.
See Paris in 24 hours, and don't forget to get true souvenirs and gifts from Paris!
TL;DR
So that you know what to expect, the prices and rates are displayed in USD. Therefore, I have always added “about” as an estimate because of currency conversion changes.
I have created table overviews with per-day rates for accommodation types, fixed transport, museum, and activity rates, and average food and drink prices.
Prices are an approximate all-year average for all accommodations.
The cost is higher in the peak season and lower in the lowest season, but the difference isn't that big.
All other prices are set, but keep in mind that museum and tour prices can get pricier if you choose exclusive ones.
Especially, tours on GetYourGuide, Viator and Klook tend to cost a bit more, than when you purchase them directly, but they also offer special bundled tickets at times, and they are more convenient.
Accommodation Cost
I have calculated from the annual average, for 2 adults per night.
In summary, rooms tend to be not that expensive in Paris for European capital standards, especially if you compare it with Amsterdam travel expenses.
BUT, the tourist city tax has been increased, and the establishments collect it per person per day in addition to the total price. So keep that in mind!
Transportation
The accessibility of public transportation in Paris makes it relatively effortless to navigate the city.
Public transport includes, the metro (subway/tube), tram, bus, RER (Paris train line) and the SNCF (national train line).
You can purchase 3 different types of public transport tickets in Paris and each has its own vailidity rules:
- Ticket t+: metro, tram, bus, RER zone 1 and Montmartre Funiculaire. Single ticket or block of 10.
- Navigo: metro, tram, bus, RER. You have to pick two zones.
- Paris Visite: metro, tram, bus, RER, SNCF. You can pick between zone 1-3 or zone 1-5.
To move between airports, Orly (ORY) or Charles de Gaulle (CDG), between Disney World or the Versailles palace, get the Paris Visite Zone 1-5 ticket.
If you are just going to move around the city center, including Montmartre, we recommend the block of 10. That's 10 trips within that zone and you can purchase that at a ticket counter or online,
