Sleeping Beauty & Disney Castle

Inspired by: Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria, Germany
The Sleeping Beauty is the ultimate Disney cartoon that depicts a dreamy, fantasy-filled Europe.
Princess Aurora pricking her finger on a spinning wheel and falling into a deep slumber is a classic fairy tale that Walt Disney turned into an infamous movie.
In particular, the amazing castle—which is also the Disney intro castle silhouette and the Disney World theme park castle—comes to life in this film.
The Neuschwanstein Castle in Southern Germany was the Sleeping Beauty castle inspiration, and people from all over the world visit this storybook castle, all thanks to the Sleeping Beauty movie.
The Beauty and the Beast
Inspired by: Towns in Alsace, Château de Chambord and Versailles Palace in France.
The beauty and the beast hold a special place in our hearts, and the setting has a lot to do with this.
Belle strolling through the quaint old villages colorful half-timbered houses stirred all our imaginations. Surprisingly, you'll be able to completely lose yourself in such a setting on a trip to one of the Alsace towns in Eastern France.
The extravagant chandeliers hanging in the Versailles palace near Paris served as the inspiration for the dreamy ballroom scene, while the Chateau de Chambord influenced the beast's castle.
Pinocchio

Inspired by: Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany and South Tyrolean towns in Italy.
Pinocchio has a special place in my heart. When I watched the movie as a kid, I could relate to the little puppet that strived to become a real boy. It was always the battle between good and evil and Pinocchio trying to navigate this world.
But especially the cobbled streets, quaint little workshops, and old-world towns activated my sense of wonder and a strong desire to unearth these places in the real world.
The story takes place in Italy, but some locations took inspiration from other places in Europe, such as Rothenburg ob der Tauber in Germany and South Tyrolean towns, including Sterzing in Italy.
Brave

Inspired by: Scottish Highlands.
Brave tells the story of a redheaded rebel, Merida. As the daughter of a king in Scotland, she is pressured to marry when she unintentionally transforms her mother into a bear with a magic spell.
The whole storyline showcases the Scottish Highlands beautifully, and it most definitely inspired us to unearth stunning places such as Glencoe.
Green rolling hills, ruined castles, horses, arrows, and bows dominate the plot of this 2012 Walt Disney movie. You'll want to travel to Scotland ASAP if Brave moved you!
Peter Pan

Inspired by: London.
Peter Pan struck a chord with us all. Children that refused to grow up and a magical place called Never Land reminded us of our childhoods. It's one of the most magical movies that is actually tied to a real city.
The picture's setting, an Edwardian-era London, with its nighttime rooftop views and the timeless Big Ben, animated generations to travel to London.
You will fantasize that Peter Pan will appear and take you to Never Land on your next visit to London!
The Hunchback of Notre Dame

Inspired by: Paris, the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Quasimodo and Esmeralda, from the 1996-released Hunchback of Notre Dame Disney movie, made the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris world-wide known.
The views from the Gothic bell tower cathedral showed Paris in all its Renaissance glory, and when the cathedral roof burned down in 2019, we were all holding our breath in raw disbelief.
Fortunately, the grand medieval cathedral, the Notre Dame de Paris, underwent full restoration, and it was reopened to the public in December 2024.
All is not lost, and you can visit once again today this legendary landmark in Paris. The 360 rooftop views will surely take you back to the Disney movie!
Frozen

Inspired by: Norway Fjords, Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, and Hallstatt, Austria.
Frozen is a recent Disney movie release, and it's one of the most popular movies today. The winter wonderland scene, the storyline, and the enthralling songs are a big hit with the younger generations.
Snowy Nordic landscapes remind us of the fjord in Norway. Specific scenes were taken from places like the Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach in Iceland, and Arendelle Village resembles Hallstatt, the picturesque lake town in Austria.
Families with kids will be delighted to discover these places during the winter months in Europe.
