When are all the Christmas markets taking place in Germany?
The time before Christmas is known as Advent in Germany and Europe. This is the period when Christmas markets are held.
Most start at the end of November and last up to Christmas day. That means, Christmas markets take place for almost 1 month, mostly in December.
Note that Christmas is celebrated on the 24th in Germany, and most markets close for the season by the 23rd or by the early afternoon hours on the 24th.
The big Christmas markets in the cities are open daily, but in smaller villages they are held mostly on weekends only (except if it's a famous Market).
Around the 5th and 6th December, Christmas markets also become part of the Krampus or native Perchten celebrations. This is especially true in Southern Germany, such as in Munich.
