Slovenia and Slovakia have similar names and are easily confused. Nonetheless, they are entirely unique countries in Europe.
A map and table comparing the two countries side by side will help you understand the key differences within minutes.

Where are Slovakia and Slovenia located in Europe?
Both sovereign countries are located in Central Europe, but they are not right next to each other.
Slovenia is surrounded by Italy, Austria, Hungary, and Croatia.

These two countries appear very similar to an outsider, but their cultures and traditions differ in several ways.
Slovakia is the bigger of the two and the landscape is very rural, but Bratislava is up and coming.
Slovenia is smaller and had an upswing in Tourism lately, making it a popular destination for people who have been to Europe before.
Both countries have their perks, and we were always warm welcomed in Slovenia and Slovakia. Therefore, I recommend that you plan a visit to both or either one before they get crowded and popular.
