When we visited the Oktoberfest in Munich last year, we thought that it would have been nice to have an overview of all the prices somewhere online.
Below I have put together several tables listing all the various rates, including entrance, food, rides, accommodations, and attires.

Jump to:
The rates at the Oktoberfest in Munich have slightly increased over the years, thanks to inflation and, naturally, we are more aware of our spendings.
I have converted all the prices below into USD, and these are all approximates. Keep in mind that every tent gets to set its rates, and therefore I can only give you a rough estimate.
The purpose of this post is to help you plan so that you know in advance how much money you will need to bring along.
Everything is CASH ONLY at the Oktoberfest, and we have talked about the cash only situation in Germany and Austria in a previous post.
Therefore, you will need to bring enough cash before you enter the venue, and this is when this table of expenses will come handy.
Tip: Read up our Frequently Asked Oktoberfest Questions.
Oktoberfest Venue

| Price | |
| Entrance to the Oktoberfest Venue | Free. |
| Tent Seats | Free. You don't pay for seats, it's first come, first served. Seats can be reserved in some tents for larger groups (i.e 8 pax) but you will have to purchase food and drink tickets in advance if you want to book seats for a group. Keep in mind, it's prohibited to resell a reservation. Keep away from resellers! |
| Toilets | Free |
| Oktoberfest Guided Tours | There are no fixed rates. I recommend reaching out to one of the official city tour guides. You can book a tour guide with a tent reservation, but those don't come cheap at about $200 per person. Keep in mind that the tents can be freely accessed, but they are closed down when they are full. |
| Bavaria Statue | You can climb to the Bavaria statue head for a view of the venue (up to 8 pm) for USD 5.50. |

Tip: If you didn't get into a tent, and you have come with a small group of friends, try to talk to a waiter or waitress. A generous tip and they will help you find a seat in the tent.
Food & Drink
At the Oktoberfest, you will mostly find traditional local meals and dishes served specifically at fairs in Bavaria. Learn about typical Bavarian foods.
The beer is always served in 1-liter glasses, and meat dominates the menu, but you can find a few vegetarian options too.

The lockers are located at the main entrances, and the security will check your bags for security reasons.
Knives and bags are not permitted within the venue and have to be left at the lockers.
| Price | |
| Large Bags, Backpacks, and Luggage | about $7.80 |
| Smaller bags and personal belongings (umbrellas, knives) | about $5.50 |
| Baby Strollers | about $3.30 |

Transportation
The metro/subway/tube is the most convenient way to get around during the Oktoberfest.
The quickest way to reach the Theresienwiese metro stop is via the U4 or U5. It's closer to the main entrance.
From the airport, take the train to Central Station and the U4 U-Bahn (metro/subway) to the Theresienwiese.

The city of Munich is split into zones, and when you purchase a public transport ticket, you need to look out for the zones that you are going to travel through.
All U-Bahn (subway/metro) stops are located within the M zone, which is the central zone, so in this case you will require the most basic M zone ticket to get around.
If you are coming from the airport, you will require a Zone 5 ticket.
Below, I have listed the prices for the M zone, as this is the most commonly purchased public transport ticket zone in Munich.
You can look up all zone ticket prices for 2025.
| Tickets per Day per Adult | Price |
| Single Trip Ticket | about $4.30 |
| Day Ticket | about $10.20 |
| Day Ticket Group (2-5 people) | about $19.70 |

Tip: Avoid taxis and Uber's, they can get very pricey and can cost more than $90 to get you from A to B.
Accommodation Cost
The most expensive bit of your Oktoberfest trip will be your stay.
Getting affordable rooms is challenging. You will have to book your lodgings months in advance.
Rates are extremely variable, and therefore I can't really give you a set number for budget, mid-range, and luxury rooms.
Just because a room is sold at $500 a night during the Oktoberfest period, it doesn't mean that it's luxurious accommodation.
Airbnb's and hotel rooms hike up the rates during this period, especially those that are located near the Theresienwiese, the venue of the event.
You will find cheaper rooms, and even tents, just outside the city, but remember to book weeks or even months in advance!
Attire
Last, but not least, you have the option to buy a Dirndl or Lederhosen set to wear during the celebrations.

It's optional, and you don't have to. Not everybody wears traditional Trachten attire.
If you decide to purchase a set, get quality attire and not a Shein or Amazon cosplay set, please.
Trachten also come with rules. For example, I recommend looking up our Dirndl etiquette.
Proper Trachten (the name of the traditional attire) doesn't come cheap! Here are estimates that will give you a budget idea for your Oktoberfest outfit.
| Price | |
| Dirndl Dress with Apron | $150-1000 |
| Blouse | $30-120 |
| Dirndl Shoes | $80 |
| Dirndl Jacket | about $60-100 |
| Lederhosen pants (Men, but there are female versions too) | $300-600 |
| Belt | $50 |
| Shirt | about $90 |
| Jacket | $200 |
| Knee Socks and Shoes | about $100 |

Tip: Purchase your Trachten outfit in Munich to get genuine clothes. If you are looking for designer dresses and Lederhosen pants, check out Sportalm.
